TOUR # 1
Ancient Salona and Trogir

TOUR # 1 - Ancient Salona and Trogir

Split - Tour 1

Begin with a panoramic drive of the city of Split followed by a 30-min drive along the main Adriatic road which will take you to the charming town of Trogir. The old core is situated on a small island between the island of Ciovo and the mainland, connected by a small stone bridge from the mainland and a drawbridge from the island of Ciovo. Trogir is a town-museum in the very meaning of the word. Lovers of cultural and historical monuments, art, original architecture, and nice alleys are given the opportunity in Trogir to learn about the manifold and complex heritage – from the Romanesque yard to the modern interiors. A unique historical core, Radovan's portal offers art collections which have been arousing excitement among visitors and travelers for centuries and personified in the relief of Kairos. After lunch at the local restaurant Fontana, drive back a small portion of the same road and stop in the town of Solin, i.e. Salona. Salona represents one of the most significant ancient and early Christian sites in the world. It is famous because the ruins from both periods have been preserved in situ – it is rare elsewhere in the world – providing research material of all kinds. Guided sightseeing is highly recommended due to the complexity of the site. Salona has recently been landscaped and re-planned in an urban way, so the whole town gives an impression of a park. The promenade along the Jadro river reveals a natural and historical environment of extraordinary value, attracting many visitors.
