The building that was to become the Saint James Paris was built in 1892 as a memorial to Adolphe Thiers, President of the French Republic. Constructed on the site of Paris' first airfield, it housed the Thiers foundation, a residence for France's best scholars, before becoming the Saint James Club of Paris. If the Club still exists, the property is also a Relais & Châteaux luxury hotel. While the access is restricted to club members and hotel guests during the day, the Michelin-restaurant with Chef Virginie Basselot and the library-bar are open to the publice Mon-Sat for dinner and for Brunch on Sundays
Like in a home, each of the 34 rooms and 15 suites tell their own story, inspired by existing or imaginary characters and contribute to the crazy-chic style imagined by Bambi Sloan for the property, fully redecorated in 2012. They are bright and especially spacious. On the top floor, each suite enjoys a winter garden under the glass roof.
