Hotel Barocco****

Piazza Barberini, 9 00187 Rome - Italy

On the majestic Piazza Barberini, with Bernini's magnificent baroque fountain of the Triton, stands a charming little hotel whose name is an homage to the style that inspired the most scenographic squares and monuments of Rome; the Hotel Barocco.

The entrance on the tranquil Via della Purificazione leads into the cozy, refined hall with its sofas covered in beige and orange-striped damask, oriental carpets and trompe l'oeil walls with scenes of classical Rome. The intimate and relaxing breakfast room next to the hall features elements in cherry-wood.

The atmosphere of this exclusive hotel is one of elegance, reserve and comfort. The clientele consists of businessmen, professionals, artists and journalists as well as visitors from all over the world who come here to discover the beauties of Rome and the city's secret corners.

Each of the 41 rooms on sixt floors has a different layout; some also have balconies and terraces overlooking parts of the square and Rome's picturesque roofs, princely palaces and flowered penthouses.

The interiors boast soft floral fabrics in shades of blue and red, cherry wood, mirrors and precious marbles in the bathrooms.
Walls are decorated by 19th-century prints and oil paintings featuring floral compositions, peaceful landscapes and Turkish-style scenes.

The five suites are particularly charming and have a décor by Vivai del Sud with striped damasks in bright green and ivory and cream marble floors.
The overall effect is one of luminous harmony complemented by the vistas over the square.

All the rooms have modern comforts including air conditioning, satellite TV, wall safes, PC plugs and hair dryers. Suites are also provided with dressing gowns. The rooms are totally soundproofed. Room service from 4 pm to midnight.

Elegantly-set tables with damask tablecloths greet guests for a lavish and inviting American-style breakfast which offers - besides the usual selection of yoghurts, cereals, fresh fruit, fruit salad, croissants, ham, eggs and bacon pastries and home-made cakes such as sponges, tarts and puff pastry.

Then there are the typical Italian cheeses which vary periodically, thus giving guests an opportunity to enjoy the ample variety of Italy's regional specialties.
